Head Coach - Damo Littlewood
Originally from New Zealand, Damo has been involved in endurance sports for more than 25 years. As a teenager he played every sport going from football to water polo; in his early twenties, he was heavily involved in surf-life saving and discovered his love for coaching. During that time, he also took part in his first ever tri - way back in the early days with dodgy Oakleys and the fluro kit to match.
Fast forward to the present and he is still wearing some pretty dodgy tri kit. But don't let that fool you; he is one of only a handful of UK based amateur athletes to go sub 9 hours for an Ironman at the tender age of 40 while working full time. Experienced across all distances, on and off road, other achievements include:
- 10-time Ironman athlete with consistent sub-10 hour performances including a sub-9 finish at Challenge Roth in 2011
- Participation at the 2010 World Championships in Hawaii
- 3rd amateur overall at X-Terra England 2014
- British AG (40 - 44) Olympic distance champion 2011
- British Quadrathlon champion 2004
Damo is known for his 'no nonsense' approach to coaching and will generally say it as it is. He is a certified British Triathlon level 3 coach, top level bike fitter (APEX Bike Fit certified) and Natural Running trained coach.
He has coached a number of athletes ranging from first time Ironman athletes to time crunched CEOs, aspiring juniors and elite level cyclists. As a working athlete himself he understands how to juggle work and family life to get the best from the time you have available to train.
If you are wondering what it takes to get to the 'show' (IM World Champs in Kona, Hawaii) why not give him a try. With a bit of focused training you might surprise yourself!
In his own words, "Don't wish for it. Work for it!" and "Consistency is key".
