Let us help you discover the best running experience for you
Generally speaking, gait analysis is a method used to assess the way you move. Ideally, it should be called true movement analysis which uncovers precisely how your body is moving. Every activity, even standing still, represents a unique movement pattern. That pattern is bred from your habits and lifestyle, as well as your body's mobility, stability, flexibility and strength.
Many people think however that gait analysis is only about someone watching you run on a treadmill, evaluating your feet and your shoes. When gait analysis is conducted correctly though, your feet are only a small piece of your biomechanical puzzle. What happens to your feet is merely part of a holistic, whole body, integrated movement pattern. Running is essentially a unique way of moving and therefore gait analysis goes far beyond someone watching you jog barefoot and in a pair of trainers, deciding over your degree of pronation (i.e. the natural inward roll of the foot).
From a look at the ankle to a look at the whole body...
Here at Tri 1st we strongly believe that every runner has their own biomechanical constitution and ideally we would like take a holistic look at the running movement of your whole body, not just your feet. However, it all depends how far you want to go.
Our basic gait analysis is all about helping you discover the best running experience and guiding your shoe selection. We will pop you on our in-store treadmill to check your running style barefoot and in your current running shoes. This will be filmed and relayed to a laptop where slow motion and freeze frames allow us to assess your running form, identify specific movements and highlight potential problems. We will then suggest a few suitable running shoes for you to try, put you back on the treadmill and see which one works best for you. The entire process will ensure that you will leave Tri 1st with a pair of running shoes that give you the perfect blend of comfort, support, weight and durability.
Cost - £25 for a personalised 25 mins consultation which will be refunded if you purchase a pair of shoes from us
